Hey there, listeners!

We are almost at an end of the July 15 audio, and this Sunday, I'll begin to put July 22nd audio in the feed. For now, enjoy Alexandra, Ramón, and what I call the Rainbow Roll: three poets, reciting one poem each in a seemingly never-ending cycle. For Episode 19, the Rainbow Roll consists of Yasmine Vargas (a.k.a. Yaz), Laster the Master, and Alex.

Enjoy!

Wowie-kazowie, you guys!!

The podcast is almost at the twenty-episode mark!

Words cannot describe how excited I am that this project is not only coming along nicely, but also how excited I am that I got the chance to do this.

And, because a poet has a nasty habit of putting words to things, I will let Yaz, Anai, and Carlos Laster to describe the perfection of this moment.

 TONIGHT'S POETRY NIGHT!!!

THE NIGHT STARTS AT 7P.M. @ THE POET'S PASSAGE IN OLD SAN JUAN #203 CRUZ STREET, that's right...NEXT TO THE STARBUCKS.

I am still on autopilot, but my robot self would like you to enjoy this next batch of audio. It's fresh perked, so it has to be good.

Here you'll hear from Carlos Laster, Carlé with her poetry, Mike's friend Brad with his music, and the "hidden dragon" poet Javier.

Now, Javier's story is great in the sense that the first few nights I went to Poetry Nights, he would come and sit near the stage, but never say anything. Bit by bit, week by week, he began to loosen up. What you see tonight is the product of all this pent-up poetic energy. With just three poems, he proceeded to bring the audience to its knees.

It was amazing.

I'm on autopilot today, because tonight is Poetry Night and I'm getting done with a ridiculous amount of work.

At any rate, tonight you'll hear the microphonic antics of Carlos Laster, Alexandra, Michael Lovett and Carlé, Gerónimo, and Ramón.

I hope you enjoy it as much as the crowd enjoyed this part of the night.

Wow.

It's been a crazy, crazy week so far.

I haven't been working with the podcast this past week because I've been painting at The Poet's Passage. The upside to me not being on the mic with the episodes is, of course that you get to see an interesting and original piece of art next time you're there.

You'll be hearing audio in the coming days from last Tuesday, and while it will most definitely run on to this week's schedule, that's just something I think we all have to live with, for the sake of poetry.

Carlos Laster was hosting that night, and in this first batch you'll hear from him, Nora Vidal, and Lady Lee Andrews.

I hope that you get a kick out of Carlos's natural laid-back hosting style and the way he's able to play the audience like a well-tuned guitar.

Lucky number thirteen is here...

And so is the last of the audio from July 8's poetry nights.

Today you'll hear from Lady Lee Andrews, Tito a.k.a. Alejandro, and Geraldo Ahmias.

I hope you're listening to this while you're ON YOUR WAY TO POETRY NIGHTS...

Don't forget, the night starts at 7PM at #203 Cruz Street next to the Starbucks in Old San Juan. Go, enjoy, and maybe show off your own material. You most definitely will end up on the internetz. (epic.)

TOMORROW'S POETRY NIGHT!!

Click to download/listen Episode 12.

Whoa.

I went back to the future for a bit there, and I hope you'll excuse the mild two-day hiatus.

So...

I'm back with the fire, as the wonderful Emily Teresa would put it, giving you the magnificient performance that Jorge Román was kind enough to bestow on us.

His whole set is around twenty minutes, so to include any more poets would not only make the episode too long, it would take away from how singularly amazing the experience at The Poet's Passage is.

And, also..

This is all I'm willing to edit.

Tee-hee.

Hey, hey, hey!

You all missed an AMAZING night last night. Well, all sorts of wonderful poets showed up, and they all left The Poet's Passage filled with magic.

The night ended relatively early (around ten), but I ended up getting around two and a half hours of audio.

In this episode, you'll hear from Lady Lee Andrews, Corazón, and Sebastián. I know it's only three poets, but trust me, it's more than enough to tide you over for now.

See you tomorrow.

Love it? Hate it? Wish I didn't talk so damn much?

Who's in for a treat?

I'd venture a guess and say....you.

Why?

Well, in this episode you'll hear Lady reading poems in Spanish, the medieval stylings of Geraldo Ahmías, Mike Lovett, the man behind the podcast's music, the new guy Juan Cortés, and me. Singing.

I know, I know..my singing doesn't always qualify as a treat but here it is.

ENJOY!

The life of a poet is indescriba-bibble.

In this episode you get to hear my meditations on the topic of poetry and the sharing of art and expression.

Then, some poetry.

Lady Lee continues with her reading of Never Before. She's followed by Maribel Torres Pagán with poems from her books Poetas sin tregua and Ese hombre. We wrap up the half-hour of audio with Miss Angélica, Jesús, and Magaly Quiñones.

All music by Mike Lovett.

Hey, you poetry addicts.

I'm trying out more minimalist show notes for this batch of audio because of the time crunch.

I'm still playing audio from July 1, 2008.

And I am still tired.

In this episode Lady Lee reads more selections from her book Never Before and talks about being a self-published poet. She then treats us to the lyrical talents of Jorge, one of The Poet's Passage semi-regulars and a poet whose talent surpasses all limits of sane proportion.

In short, this man is amazing.

He starts off with a couple of mind-bending poems, both about well-endowed women; follows those up with an ongoing project about the alphabet, and finishes up with "Circa Perse"

ENJOY..

I know I did.

Download Episode Five here.

I'm so sorry for the lateness, but Wednesday night, the hosting services started acting up on me and so today you're getting the episode that you were supposed to get on Thursday night.

Fail, I know, but bear with me. We've got some FAAAAAbulous poets in this latest batch of audio, and now that I'm back, we might get rid of this before Tuesday.

In this episode you'll hear from the master, Carlos A. Laster, Lady Lee Andrews, and Johanny Vázquez Paz.

All of the poets were accompanied by intelligent banter from the crowd, but unfortunately the recorder was hiding underneath a blanket, which muted the ambient noise.

At any rate, enjoy!

All music written and performed by Mike Lovett.
